Latest News from Bent's Camp

Perhaps you have heard there are new owners at Bent’s Camp. And yes, we know there has been a lot of speculation on the fate of Bent’s Camp for many months. And now we finally get to share with you our story, our plans and our great excitement as the new owners of Bent’s Camp.

Like so many others, we have always loved the Northwoods. On our way back home after each trip up north we would dream and discuss just how we could move here someday. What could we do..where would we live..what about our jobs…how would we make a living and be able to survive such a change? And for years we dreamed.

Last summer after a family vacation in Eagle River, we seriously discussed finally trying to do something. The stars aligned. Through our cousin Tom Baertschy, we found out that maybe…just maybe… Paul and Lisa Stemen of Bent’s Camp might consider selling. And so our Journey up North began. We fell in love with Bent’s Camp years ago like so many of you have throughout the years. It has a beautiful, historic, peaceful, fun and lively setting and has great food. The people who visit, the locals and the employees are all great and the atmosphere is always welcoming. What’s not to love?!

Our daughter MaryKate is attending Kindergarten at Land O’ Lakes Elementary. She is excited to be in her new home and excited to meet many new friends. MaryKate says she wants to be the official “Taster” at the restaurant. We will look forward to her approval on any new food items. Our other daughter Sophia is a year and a half, and she looks forward to growing up on the resort, learning to swim, and selling bait in a few years.

We are lucky to have Paul and Lisa on till the end of May to help show us the ropes…and there are a lot of ropes. We are also fortunate that the staff is all staying on. Their experience is like no other, and we look forward to learning from them as well. We also look forward to meeting you all upon your next visit – whether you plan to stay in a cabin or come in for a fish fry, we appreciate your business!

We will keep the tradition going at Bent’s and keep it the same great place that it has been for years. Again, we are excited to be here and look forward to meeting all of you soon.
